Tiscral Plates

Tiscral Plates: Specification, Properties, Applications and Price Guide

If your machines handle coal, ore, cement, grain or rock, wear is a constant cost. Liners, chutes, hoppers and bucket linings wear out quickly, and every shutdown for repairs costs money. Tiscral Plates are made for this problem. They are a wear-resistant steel grade in the 200 BHN range, with good toughness and easy workability.

This guide covers what Tiscral plates are, their specifications, where they are used and how to buy them. You can also see our full product page: Tiscral Plates at Steel Alloys.

What Are Tiscral Plates?

Tiscral plates are wear-resistant structural steel plates made by Tata Steel. They are used where a plain mild steel plate wears out too fast, but a very hard 400–500 BHN plate would be too costly or too hard to fabricate.

At 200–250 BHN, Tiscral plates sit in the middle. They are tougher than mild steel and still easy to cut, bend and weld in a normal workshop. That balance is why they are popular with fabricators, mining contractors and material handling companies.

Key Features of Tiscral Plates

  • Good abrasion and wear resistance for everyday industrial use
  • Hardness of about 200–250 BHN
  • Good weldability and formability
  • Good impact toughness
  • Longer service life than ordinary mild steel plate
  • Available in many thicknesses, widths and lengths

Why Choose Tiscral Plates?

1. Lower Maintenance Cost

Longer wear life means fewer replacements and less downtime.

2. Easy Fabrication

Tiscral plates can be cut, drilled, bent and welded with common workshop methods. You do not need special equipment, unlike very high-hardness plates.

3. Strong, Tough Performance

Good tensile strength with toughness helps the plates handle load and impact, not only sliding wear.

4. Cost Effective

For moderate wear conditions, Tiscral gives good value compared to premium 400–500 BHN plates.
