ROCKSTAR 500 is a quenched and tempered abrasion resistant steel plate with a hardness of 450–540 BHN. Its very hard surface resists severe sliding wear and abrasion in mining, crushing and material-handling equipment, with good toughness for its hardness.

ROCKSTAR 500 gains its hardness from quenching, which means rapid cooling, followed by tempering. This process builds a very hard surface that slows material loss from rock, ore, coal and sand.

ROCKSTAR 500 Plate Chemical Composition

ROCKSTAR 500 uses controlled carbon, manganese, chromium, nickel, molybdenum and boron, with a carbon equivalent that rises as plates get thicker. Thicker plates need more alloying to harden through the full section.

What this means for you: CE values of 0.60–0.74 are high. Plan preheat, low-hydrogen consumables and a qualified welding procedure before you fabricate.
